February/March 2007: The Deception of Sin
Sin is something diabolical. It always appears to be something attractive, promising everything, but delivering nothing except a bunch of trouble. Sin says, “You don’t need God. I have the answers” and we believe the lie until we are left disillusioned. Sin is like a wolf in sheep‚s clothing. It is no respecter of persons. It looks for and finds the weak and then brings them down to destroy their lives; and when this finally happens, Sin blames the one who did the act, always trying to mock the grace of God.

Beginning Again (95kb)
I remember being on my knees for almost two hours every night while my parents slept. I had my headphones and my praise and worship music, and with that I would worship the Lord for a while. Then I would read the Word of God and write my thoughts down in a journal. Lastly, I would pray for my family, for my friends, and for anyone that God put on my heart. This became the fountain from which my call to the ministry came, and then to the mission field. My encounter with God was something so powerful that it changed me for life.

Crying Out To God (98kb)
It was in the year 2003. I had just come back from Peru for the third time confirming the call of God on my life to continue my music ministry and this time record a new album in Spanish to communicate the Gospel to Latinos. Now, it was only a question of God providing the funds and the people for the project. At the time I was still doing valet parking at a restaurant called "Rooster" when one evening a jazz musician came in to play. I recognized him immediately, an old friend from the church I used to attend in Dallas. From there we began to collaborate on songs that I was starting to compose. Three years later here we are with a brand new CD, "Clamor". ("Cry Out" in Spanish). |

The Resurrection and the Life (99kb)
My brothers and sisters, for this reason we should be sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Resurrection and the Life, with those who don’t know Him. The reality of Hell should awaken us to the fact that there are so many who don’t know Him and without Him will go to a place that was originally intended for the devil and his angels. These past two or three months you have read about a lot of my convictions about being a witness for Christ to lost people. Hell is a real place but Jesus is a real Savior and is willing to save any who would call upon His name. We cannot let our family and friends down. We cannot let anyone down for whom Christ died. How can we start reaching those around us before it is too late? |

Getting Connected Through Service (104kb)
The time that we put into serving and getting to know others in the church is time well spent in our own spiritual development because the Lord never wanted for our spiritual growth to happen apart from his Body. Our sanctification depends on rubbing shoulders with others. You cannot grow properly without someone loving you and pouring their lives into your life. Imagine if the person that led you to Christ had failed to share the Good News with you when you most needed it. Brothers and sisters, this is going to require that we lower our defenses, that we open our hearts to others. We can do this wisely aware that others may want to come in and harm us, but also praying that God would send people our way who will bless us and spiritually build us up as well as us building them up.

Giving a Reason for the Hope Within Us (99kb)
But it doesn’t even matter how many lies the Enemy tries to throw at people because the Truth can always defend itself. However, at the same time, we must be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks. The Apostle Peter even says in I Peter 3:15, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” The question that goes through my mind is, “How many opportunities have I had to share the truth with someone and for some reason, I found a way not to do it, maybe because of fear, or because I didn’t know what to say?” Either way, I was disobedient to God.

Husbands and Wives on the Lookout (99kb)
We are not beyond his attacks, my brothers and sisters. Our marriage is not bullet proof nor invincible to his darts. Not only that, we are like fragile china and without God’s grace and protection, our relationships could not handle it. Men could not love their wives as Christ loved the church if not for the grace and the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us. Women could not submit themselves to the headship of their husbands if they were not first submitting themselves the lordship of Jesus Christ. For this reason, it is so important to marry a believer that is consecrated to the Holy Spirit.

Who Was Pilate (94kb)
Who was Pilate? This infamous man, who knew that Christ was innocent but could not battle the politics of the leaders of that day, was a man with many problems. Pilate was the governor back then, but one day, before he was to face Christ, his wife went to him to tell him about a dream that she had, warning him to have nothing do with Jesus. But Pilate, because of the political pressure, chose to do the opposite and Christ got the death sentence.

The Testimony of Gleyser Greenway (98kb)
After arriving, everything seemed very different and empty to me, since I had left everything I had known and loved behind. I began to work taking care of children with which I had no experience and very little interest. But it was also a shock for me because I had never worked before. For one year I was employed in several places planning to return to Bolivia. |

When It Rains, It Pours (97kb)
How interesting that Peter called it a “trial” almost as if it were a temptation of the devil. It is because the Enemy wants you to give up and not trust the Lord. It is so hard not to throw in the towel when you see the death of your loved one. But I keep learning that God‚s power is displayed during these times, because we will never depend on God until there is nothing more than to depend on Him. God wants every part of us. And by the way, He will get it even if it takes a few bumps along the way. |

God on the Move (96kb)
There is always comfort and reassurance for those who have thrown away much of their lives to alcoholism, witchcraft, pornography, and drugs. God will receive back those who truly turn away from those things, because no matter what our failures, God wants to forgive us; and not just to forgive us but also to mend, to heal and to restore. He has broken the deceptive power of the Enemy in our lives that has dominated and tamed us as if we were caged animals, like puppets on a string.
